Gus Malzahn has made a name for himself at Auburn, but with the NFL calling he may leave the school to take over with the Miami Dolphins.
With the Miami Dolphins’ playoff hopes hanging in the balance and out of their control, head coach Joe Philbin seems to be similarly hanging in the balance. He’s hardly been the head coach the Dolphins thought they were getting when they hired him away from Green Bay as his tenure has been more of an embarrassment than something to cheer about.

This past season was an improvement, but it followed a year in which the Dolphins became bullies in the worst locker room in football. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers literally had an actually diseased infested locker room with their MRSA outbreak, but the Dolphins locker room was somehow worse.
With Pilbin likely out at the end of the season, the Dolphins look to be getting creative with where they look for his replacement. According to Ian Rapoport from NFL Network, the Miami Dolphins could look t Auburn Tigers head coach Guz Malzahn as a replacement.
.@RapSheet on Gus Malzahn: "I would expect the Dolphins to have interest in him if they part ways with Joe Philbin."

This would be an interesting move for the Dolphins, as they remain in play for Jim Harbaugh if/when he’s fired or traded by the San Francisco 49ers. But with Michigan going hard after Harbaugh, the Dolphins looking elsewhere is wise — and looking at Malzahn is creative.
Malzahn cleaned up and helped fix one dysfunctional situation already in Auburn an moving to Miami is a bright move. The Dolphins have dabbled in SEC head coaches in the past though, with Nick Saban leaving LSU to basically use Miami as a pit stop to Alabama.
So if all else fails, Malzahn can look at the Dolphins as the last due he has to pay before becoming a legendary and iconic college head coach in the future.
