Jaelen Strong announced on Monday that he would be forgoing his final years of college eligibility to declare for the 2015 NFL Draft. The announcement was made through the school’s sports information department.
"“This has been one of the most difficult decisions of my life. I’ve spoken to my family and we feel it is best for me to declare for the 2015 NFL Draft,” Strong said in a statement. (via Pro Football Talk)"
Strong was one of the finalists for the Biletnikoff Award, eventually won by Alabama‘s Amari Cooper, and a First Team All-Pac-12 performer, as well as a member of five All-America teams in the fall. Strong is a Philadelphia native and was number 15 on college football’s receiver list with 75 catches for 1,062 yards and 10 touchdowns.
His best game in 2014 was against USC in October when he had 10 catches for 102 yards and three touchdowns.
Arizona head coach Todd Graham had strong praise for the soon-to-be former Arizona State receiver.
"“Jaelen’s enormous impact was felt from the first day he stepped on the practice field with us more than 16 months ago. His work ethic, attention to detail and overall football IQ are just a few of his attributes that make him such a special talent. It has been a great pleasure to watch him grow into the young man he has become – a leader off the field and a giver in his community.”"
Strong’s last game will be in the Hyundai Sun Bowl against Duke this Saturday.
