Jay Cutler was benched in favor of Jimmy Clausen for Week 16 as the Bears sat their high-priced quarterback in a move that seemed like too much and too late for a team with a myriad of problems besides the quarterback position.
Clausen experienced a similar fate as Cutler as he was unable to lead the Bears to a win and experienced a number of drops from his wide receivers and he had injury added to insult as he was diagnosed with a concussion after experiencing delayed symptoms from a hit to the head from Ziggy Ansah.
With Clausen out for the season finale the Bears will go back to Cutler who will either be auditioning for a team to trade for him this offseason for his current team with the anticipation that he will remain in Chicago due to his $15.5 million in guaranteed money.
Cutler is 26 yards shy of throwing for the most yards in his Bears tenure and his 28 touchdowns and 89.5 quarterback rating are career highs for the nine-year veteran.
