Molson’s ‘Anything For Hockey Commercial’ Will Melt Your Heart
Molson Canadian’s ‘Anything For Hockey’ hits home for hockey fans everywhere
If you’re an American, chances are you’ve shed a tear or two over the iconic clydesdales every year during the Super Bowl — but this winter, Molson Canadian has taken emotional beer commercials to another level entirely.

Meet Vitaly — then meet Vitaly’s dad, who brought him to Canada from Estonia after the USSR collapsed to ensure that he could still follow his dreams of playing hockey.
Over the course of this three-minute commercial, you get to hear Vitaly’s story, from his dad’s love of the game to the sacrifice he made in order to ensure his son got the chance to do what he loved, too. You then get to see Molson buckle Vitaly and his father into a helicopter, flying them to ‘the top of the world’ to play a one-on-one game of shinny in the mountains.
Molson is about as standard a beer as you can get in Canada (although it’s kind of a commodity in the US, just because it’s something that isn’t Coors Light), but this commercial is about more than the product — it’s a story that hits home for anyone who’s made a sacrifice to do something they love more than anything. Combine that with hockey and family, and it’s the ultimate hockey fan documentary. It’s okay to be overwhelmed with feels; we are, too.
Molson sat down with both Vitaly and his dad to talk about their love of the game; you can check out Vitaly’s story here, and his dad Andrei’s story here. If you don’t end up a messy heap of emotions and longing to play outdoor hockey, I’ll personally buy your next Molson.
