The Ravens relinquish control of their own destiny in 25-13 loss to the Houston Texans on Sunday.
On Sunday the Ravens walked off the field having lost more than just a game to the Houston Texans, they also lost control of their own destiny as far as the NFL Playoffs are concerned. Heading into the game the Ravens had a firm grip on the #6 spot in the AFC and with a win would have still walked away with their fists clenched.
As it turns out, the Ravens will need some help this Sunday and have to win their final game of the season against the Browns. In order to qualify for the playoffs now, not only do they need to win but they will also need the San Diego chargers to lose to the Kansas City Chiefs.
A disappointed Head Coach Jim Harbaugh said:
"“The thing that we lost was control of our destiny. That’s tough because when you’ve got control, when you can win out and make the playoffs, that’s a valuable thing,” Ravens coach John Harbaugh said. “We have an opportunity to win next week. That’s the opportunity we need to take and seize. I told the guys, ‘When we leave this locker room, anything we don’t need stays here. We’re only taking back with us what we can use to go play, compete and beat the Cleveland Browns, period’ “We can look back at this game and say, ‘What went wrong?’ and point fingers, but we’re not going to do that. We just don’t have time. We have to leave everything here that’s baggage.”"
The Ravens will look to regroup and hit it hard behind the leadership of their head coach and do what it takes to get the job done. It is an all business approach for players like Steve Smith Sr. who said the final game is now ‘make or break’ against the Browns.
