Jeremy Maclin’s roll of the dice appears to be paying off, as he is confident the Philadelphia Eagles will reward him with a contract extension before he becomes a free agent next spring.
Maclin, who signed a one-year deal after missing the 2013 season with a torn ACL, will wrap up the best season of his career when the Eagles close out the 2014 campaign at the New York Giants on Sunday. Maclin has 82 catches for a career-high 1,282 yards and 10 touchdowns while also being a strong candidate for Comeback Player of the Year.
“When the time’s right, it’ll get done,” Maclin said, via Reuben Frank of CSNPhilly.com. “Both sides have made it clear that they want me to be here. They want me to be here, I want to be here. This is the place I want to be.
“As long as we can agree to something, this is where I want to be. If something else happens, that’s what happens, but I try not to get caught up in that.”
Maclin is not too concerned about the fact the Eagles did not offer him a contract extension before the season, mainly because he changed agents during the offseason.
The Eagles will focus on finding a quarterback this offseason, one that can continue making both Maclin and promising rookie Jordan Matthews the leading receivers in one of the most explosive offenses in the league.
