Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones won’t be too cocky, yet he feels his NFC East champions can make a run at winning the franchise’s sixth Super Bowl title.

Those who loathe the Dallas Cowboys aren’t feeling good these days, as their NFC East title has their fans talking Super Bowl.

While the fans — longtime and bandwagon — are lathering in the glow of success, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is being guarded about his team’s chances of winning a sixth Super Bowl, which would be their first since Troy Aikman, Michael Irvin and Emmitt Smith helped Jones hoist the last of his three Lombardi Trophies during a four-year from from 1992-95.

“Let’s just look at the definition of playoffs, you play off so that you can get the chance to play in the Super Bowl,” Jones said.”I’ll go with that, I’ll let that be our Super Bowl talk.”

The Cowboys close out the regular season at the Washington Redskins this Sunday with a chance to gain homefield advantage during the NFC playoffs, marking the first time since 2007 that the road to the Super Bowl will run through Dallas.

“I’ve been here several times and got a chance to go to the Super Bowl three times,” Jones said on 105.3 The Fan [KRLD-FM]. “And so, I know how it felt when we got the opportunity and that’s what this is. So, yes, I know how it can happen. I do feel like we’re going to be competitive.

Of course, Cowboys detractors will be quick to remind you that the last time Dallas had homefield advantage, they squandered it in a divisional round loss to the New York Giants, who went on to deny the New England Patriots a 19-0 season in their Super Bowl 42 upset.
