Our Weakest Links Are Strong

One of the strongest aspects of the Houston Rockets is the complete team that they have. The Rockets have the ability to have about five different starting lineups and they would still thrive.

For example, Terrence Jones, a 22-year-old, who was a standout from the Kentucky Wildcats 2012 National Championship team, was the Rockets starting power forward. Last season he became the second youngest Rocket to ever score more than 30 points next to Hakeem Olajuwon.

But when he suffered an inflamed nerve in his right leg, he had to leave the lineup, but the next person in the rotation stood up. Because of Jones’ injury, Donatas Motiejunas has played heavy minutes for the Rockets and has excelled in the starting lineup, averaging 10.6 points and 6.1 rebounds per game.

The same narrative could get applied to every member of the Rockets second string. Players like Nick Johnson, Jason Terry, Isaiah Canaan, Kostas Papanikolaou and Tarik Black are all playing major roles for the Rockets this year and make their overall team very strong.
