The $5.1 million home of Rolando McClain burned to the ground on Monday night, serving a somber moment in his otherwise excellent comeback season.
It’s been an interesting career for Rolando McClain as he’s played for three different teams, retired twice and is still only 25 years old. But this is the season that many have been waiting to see out of the former Alabama Crimson Tide, as he’s restored himself to glory with the Dallas Cowboys and is in line for Comeback Player of the Year.

That’s not going to make the loss of his home in Alabama any easier though, as McClain suffered a great tragedy on Monday night. According to AL.com, McClain’s $5.1 million home burned to the ground on Monday night.
"Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Lt. Andy Norris said the home, on Water’s Edge Drive, belonged to the current Dallas Cowboys linebacker. The fire started sometime around 6 p.m."
It’s not that McClain’s house was worth $1.5 million, it’s that his home is gone. Nobody should have to suffer through that kind of trauma but that’s a harsh and painful reality for McClain at the moment. His season with the Cowboys is likely to result in a pretty decent pay raise, but that’s all arbitrary at the moment.
McClain is a hard guy to root against, and the loss of his home is something that a lot of people can relate to. There’s no word yet on how the fire started. He was selling the home, so it’s unclear just how much he lost in the fire, but at the very least McClain and his family are safe and will still be able to spend Christmas together.
