Despite it nearly being a lock throughout the past few months, it seems as if Roman Reigns might not be getting the Royal Rumble victory after all.
Roman Reigns has had a rocket attached to him since the Shield broke up, and it’s been widely assumed for the past couple months that Reigns will win the Royal Rumble next month and then head off to WrestleMania to win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. As a matter of fact, some have considered it a lock.
Well, as with a lot of things in life and in the wrestling business, plans change, and that seems to be what’s happening with the decision to give Reigns the Rumble win.
According to a new report from Dave Meltzer and the Wrestling Observer, given the lack of response from the crowd that Reigns has received since he returned from hernia surgery, the higher ups may be changing their minds.
Via Wrestling Rumors:
"Roman Reigns may not win the Royal Rumble match on Jan. 25. After months of reports claiming WWE wanted to position Reigns as the next “big thing” over the next few months, including a Rumble AND WrestleMania 31 win, Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter and “Wrestling Observer Radio” is saying that the company may be changing their minds."
WWE has been dead set on building Reigns as the next top star in the company, taking over for John Cena, but when you watch the crowds and listen to their responses, they’re not picking up on him like some thought they would. Also, not to mention, Reigns is still struggling heavily on the mic.
Should they ultimately decide to change their minds, who do you see winning the Rumble in January? Let us know in the comments below.
