Golden State Warriors forward David Lee doesn’t care where or when he plays; he’s just enjoying his time on a great basketball team.

David Lee is a team guy, first and foremost. Even if he’s being paid like a starter and he’s played most of his career as a starter, he understands that missing the first 25 games of the season probably set him behind the rotation on one of the best teams in the league.

So if you want to start him from the bench, then sit him there for most of the game, he’s not going to complain. Who can blame him? His Golden State Warriors sit well atop the Western Conference and as long it stays that way, life is good.

When asked if the team would be better off starting Lee on the bench, given their torrid start, Lee gave the most team-centric answer possible.

“Absolutely,” Lee said per Inside Bay Area Sports. “Whether I start tomorrow, or I get a DNP or anything in between, I trust Coach (Steve Kerr) that he’s doing this to help our team win games, and that’s his only agenda. If this is a temporary thing, a permanent thing, that doesn’t matter to me at all. I’m so excited that I’m on this winning team.”

The Warriors are a pretty exciting team to be a part of right now. They have the best record in the NBA and they feature one of the best back courts we’ve seen in years.

Now they have the luxury of making David Lee a bench player on what is arguably the deepest team in the league when healthy. It’s hardly surprising to see Lee embrace a supporting role when the team plays as well as it has.
