LaMarcus Aldridge of the Portland Trail Blazers and Serge Ibaka of the Oklahoma City Thunder were tossed out of last night’s game after a minor scuffle between the two big men.
Tensions were running high in what was turning out to be playoff style basketball in December. Serge Ibaka and LaMarcus Aldridge had been going at each other all night and finally while jockeying for position on a rebound they wound up locked together in a little wrestling match. Neither player threw a punch although at one point it appeared Aldridge thought about it.
The teams managed to get in between the two and get them separated before it could escalate into a serious type of brawl.
The game had been sent into overtime after Damian Lillard hit a three at the buzzer on just another of the guard’s spectacular buzzer beaters.
These two teams will not meet again until February 27th and you can bet that both teams will return with their best games and remembering how this game unfolded. The Trail Blazers held onto win behind the strength of a 40 point game from rising star Damian Lillard and another 25 from the ejected Aldridge. Ibaka contributed 16 points, 7 rebounds and blocked 4 shots.
Russell Westbrook carried the Thunder with 40 points , 10 boards, 6 assists and 3 steals while Kevin Durant sat out nursing a sore ankle.
