Two things jump out to me with this video: what is going on and how have I not been made aware of this before today? Let me introduce you to Tor Eckhoff, better known by his YouTube name, Apetor.
For the last eight years Apetor has slowly been amassing a goldmine of intriguing, bizarre videos onto YouTube. Stumbling onto this collection might cause you to spend the next hour or so marveling in the mystery that is Apetor.
These videos can contain any combination of the following items: ice, water, chainsaws, fire, his Volvo, a lawnmower, and his boat.
Apetor’s YouTube bio follows:
"My name is Tor Eckhoff, I am 50 years old. Living in Vestfold county in Norway. I am a worker in a paint factory in Sandefjord. In my free time I am doing stuff you can see here. The profile pic is taken in 1990, I dived into the bottom while bathing, got a few stitches."
The first video he ever uploaded was simply titled, “In My Boat”.
Which was then followed by “Lawnmoving”.
“Autumn 2011” involves him wear what appear to be moose antlers while eating Kit Kats over a burning fire. He then proceeds to stumble upon a bottle of vodka and that is when the fun begins. Stripped down to nothing but his shorts, Apetor proceeds to splash about in the Norwegian waters and finally “swimming” on top of his Volvo. The video ends with him taunting a cow.
Motherboard interviewed him last year on Christmas. Here are a few excerpts.
"Motherboard: How can you handle such extreme cold?Tor Eckhoff: I am not doing anything special, you just have to be mentally prepared, be willing to take the cold. Humans are humans, we are not made for being in icy water, we are not seals or whales. That means it feels very, very cold and you have to take it.Does drinking help? What’s your favorite drink while skating?Drinking can make you feel warmer for a short time, but as you probably know, alcohol increases loss of heat.Favorite drink in general is vodka"
It would take hours for me to describe each video to you. So I won’t. Instead, I’ll post a few videos here and encourage you to check out his YouTube and Facebook page.
