NFL QB Power Rankings: Ranking The Week 17 Starters
No. 24-21
24. Robert Griffin III – Washington Redskins – Power Ranking Score: 187.2
Once again I feel wrong ranking RG3 this high in the rankings but it’s where his score places him and when you look at all the bad QBs starting this week someone has to be ranked this high. The best thing RG3 has going for himself is his accuracy. His accuracy score is 79% is one of the best of all starting QBs. However, that is in part due to his low air yards per completion number (4.4) which means his average completion travels the shortest distance of all the starting QBs.
23. Kyle Orton – Buffalo Bills – Power Ranking Score: 191.2
As the season has wore on, Kyle Orton has gone from a solid fill in that was keeping Buffalo in games to a full fledged liability. While his combined PFF grade for his first four games was +0.5, his combined grade for the last seven games is a -24.0. The Bills have a great defense, but they must find a QB this offseason that can help them take the next step and become a playoff team.
22. Shaun Hill – St. Louis Rams – Power Ranking Score: 207.4
Shaun Hill has proven himself to be the best of the fill in/back up veteran QBs this season. While I don’t believe Hill should be a team’s top QB he is a great guy to have as an insurance plan. If you look over his Total QBR, PFF grade, Accuracy %, etc. what you see is that while none of them are high enough to warrant starter status, they also aren’t as terrible as most of the QBs lower than he is in these rankings.
21. Colin Kaepernick – San Francisco 49ers – Power Ranking Score: 211.1
Colin Kaepernick started the season as a borderline top ten QB in these rankings and now he’s just edging out the Rams number two QB and is one spot below a rookie QB. Kaepernick’s Total QBR is down over 14 points from last year and his PFF grade is down 18.1 points. That’s not good for a QB that is in the same system and has most of his same offensive weapons back.
