The New York Jets are amongst the worst teams in the league this season and many are predicting some sweeping changes for the team. Head coach Rex Ryan could be on the way out the door and the team could be entertaining the idea of drafting a new quarterback.
Geno Smith, the quarterback who admittedly has played a large role in the Jets’ decline wants to stick around, which isn’t probably what the fan base wants to hear. Smith added that he wants to be part of the solution and turn around.
“I see myself being the quarterback here for a long time,” Smith said Wednesday, via ESPN New York. “I see myself helping this team turn things around. Obviously, I’m part of the reason why we’re in this position, so I’d love to be part of the solution.”
Smith being demoted to the bench would technically be part of the solution, though that probably isn’t how he imagined playing a role in it. Of course it would’ve been nice to see Smith elaborate on how he could be part of the solution, pin point some things and lay out a plan instead of a vague and general comment.
