Richard Sherman: Marshawn Lynch Having MVP Season
By Evan Massey
Seattle Seahawks star corner Richard Sherman believes that his teammate Marshawn Lynch should win the MVP award.
Richard Sherman has taken the league by storm as one of the top defensive playmakers, and that is mostly due to his talk about himself. He has played well, but hasn’t been nearly the player that he would want fans to believe. That being said, his latest talking has been about his teammate, Marshawn Lynch.

Lynch has put together a very solid season with Seattle this year, despite having some disagreements with the front office. He has carried the football 266 times for 1,246 yards and 12 touchdowns. His receiving numbers aren’t bad either, with 34 receptions for 331 yards and four touchdowns.
Seattle is looking to come all the way back after a slow start to the season and win the number one seed in the NFC, and Lynch has been making that possibility a likelihood at this point in the year.
Sherman made some comments about his teammate deserving to win the Most Valuable Player award this season.
"“Marshawn Lynch is playing MVP-caliber football. I remember the last time a running back got it – I think he had 2,000 yards and broke close to a record, but he also had 14 touchdowns, and Marshawn has 16 touchdowns.”"
Obviously he isn’t saying that he has played better football than anyone else this season necessarily. His analysis on what a running back needs to do to win the award is sound, but Aaron Rodgers and J.J. Watt still have to be the top two candidates.
All of that being said, Lynch has been playing some of the best football from the running back position this season. He isn’t quite the MVP candidate that Sherman believes he is due to other players performing at a higher level, but he isn’t too far away either. It will be very intriguing to see whether or not he ends up getting votes for the award.
