By Daniel
10. Houston Rockets: 2.12 Points
Established In the NBA: 1967
Former Cities/Names: San Diego Rockets
Greatest Player In Team History: Hakeem Olajuwon
The Houston Rockets just barely cracked the top 10 NBA franchises of all-time and should be proud of its placement on this list. They’ve been in the NBA for 47 years and have seen some great success in that time. The franchise has won four division titles and four conference championships. But the real reason they made the top 10 is because they’ve won two NBA championships in the modern era of professional basketball.
9. Milwaukee Bucks: 2.17 Points
Established In the NBA: 1968
Former Cities/Names: N/A
Greatest Player In Team History: Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (Close Second: Oscar Robertson)
The Bucks have won only one NBA Championship in their history, but still come in as the No. 9 franchise in league history. This is because they’ve won the fourth-most division crowns in NBA history (13) as well as two conference championships. They’ve been in the NBA for 46 years and despite their overall lack of league championships, they still boast an incredibly impressive history. If they get to be a great team again they could climb even higher up this all-time list.
8. Oklahoma City Thunder: 2.34 Points
Established In the NBA: 1967
Former Cities/Names: Seattle SuperSonics
Greatest Player In Team History: Kevin Durant (Close Second: Gary Payton)
The Oklahoma City Thunder, for a long time known as the Seattle SuperSonics, come in impressively high on this list for a team that has won only one league championship. Along with that championship they’ve won four conference titles and a whopping 10 division titles. They did all of that in 47 years of NBA action. That is the type of consistent success that defines and separates the quality NBA franchises from the others.
7. Philadelphia 76ers: 2.42 Points
Established In the NBA: 1946
Former Cities/Names: Syracuse Nationals
Greatest Player In Team History: Julius Erving (Close Second TIE: Walt Chamberlain and Allen Iverson)
The 76ers boast an incredibly impressive resume for a team that not everyone typically associates with great success. But this franchise has seen a plethora of success in its 68 years in the NBA. Its won only five division championships, but has won an incredible nine conference championships (third-most all-time). It has also won three NBA championships in its history, too. 76ers fans should be incredibly proud of their place on this list and their overall history.
6. Detroit Pistons: 2.65 Points
Established In the NBA: 1948
Former Cities/Names: Fort Wayne Pistons
Greatest Player In Team History: Isiah Thomas
he Detroit Pistons just barely missed out on being included in the top 5 NBA franchises of all-time with their 2.65 points per year average. But this franchise is underrated by many when it comes to the all-time best teams. In 66 years they have won nine division championships and seven conference championships. The Pistons have also won three NBA championships to go along with those other accomplishments. They truly deserve their respectable spot on this list.
