5. Chicago Bulls: 4.68 Points

Established In the NBA: 1966
Former Cities/Names: N/A
Greatest Player In Team History: Michael Jordan

The Bulls are the fifth-best franchise in NBA history and are also the beginning of the elite franchises in league history. Their 4.68 average is incredibly impressive, as are the four franchises ranked ahead of them. They have been in the NBA for 48 years and have won nine division championships, six conference championships and six NBA Championships (third-most all-time). Their lack of high-end success before the Michael Jordan era is why they aren’t ranked higher on this list. Even so Bulls fans have to be happy with their placement in a list that accounts for all-time success.

4. Miami Heat: 6.34 Points

Established In the NBA: 1988
Former Cities/Names: N/A
Greatest Player In Team History: LeBron James (Close Second: Dwayne Wade)

The Miami Heat have been one of the most consistent and successful franchises in NBA history. In just 26 years they’ve already won three NBA Championships, five conference titles and an incredible 11 division crowns. That amount of success packed into just 26 years is incredibly impressive and why they’re ranked ahead of the Bulls in this list. They have been greater in terms of points (and success) per year than most franchises in NBA history.

3. San Antonio Spurs: 6.84 Points

Established In the NBA: 1976
Former Cities/Names: N/A
Greatest Player In Team History: Tim Duncan (Close Second TIE: George Gervin and David Robinson)

The Spurs have been the NBA’s top franchise over the last 20 years, but they are also one of the NBA’s greatest franchises of all-time. In just 38 years in the NBA they have won a mind-boggling 20 division championships (third-most in league history). If that isn’t incredible enough they’ve also won six conference championships and a whopping five NBA championships, too.

The most unbelievable part of their amount of success is that they have packed it into just 38 years. That is why their average points per year is so high and why they’re the NBA’s third greatest franchise of all-time. This franchise has dominated in recent years, but people need to start thinking about this franchise as an all-time power, not just a new contender.
