All 30 NBA Franchises Ranked By All-Time Points (Or Total Greatness):

This is for those interested in total points and believe that the age of a franchise should be celebrated and rewarded — which does make sense. Here are all NBA franchises ranked by total points.

Throughout history the franchises atop this list have enjoyed the most success in NBA history. We aren’t factoring in success per year, but have simply ranked all 30 franchises by the total number of points (success) they’ve amassed.

29. (TIE) Charlotte Hornets: 0 Points
29. (TIE) Memphis Grizzles: 0 Points
27. (TIE) New Orleans Pelicans: 5 Points
27. (TIE) Minnesota Timberwolves: 5 Points
25. (TIE) Toronto Raptors: 10 Points
25. (TIE) Los Angeles Clippers: 10 Points
24. Cleveland Cavaliers: 25 Points
23. Denver Nuggets: 35 Points
20. (TIE) Brooklyn Nets: 40 Points
20. (TIE) Indiana Pacers: 40 Points
20. (TIE) Sacramento Kings: 40 Points
19. Orlando Magic: 45 Points
18. Phoenix Suns: 50 Points
17. Dallas Mavericks: 55 Points
16. Utah Jazz: 60 Points
15. Portland Blazers: 70 Points
14. Atlanta Hawks: 75 Points
13. Washington Wizards: 90 Points
11. (TIE) Milwaukee Bucks: 100 Points
11. (TIE) Houston Rockets: 100 Points
10. Oklahoma City Thunder: 110 Points
9. Golden State Warriors: 115 Points
8. New York Knicks: 130 Points
6. (TIE) Philadelphia 76ers: 165 Points
6. (TIE) Miami Heat: 165 Points
5. Detroit Pistons: 175 Points
4. Chicago Bulls: 225 Points
3. San Antonio Spurs: 260 Points
2. Boston Celtics: 595 Points
1. Los Angeles Lakers: 715 Points

As you can see this list looks a bit different from the ‘greatness per year’ list, but the Lakers are still the NBA’s top franchise of all-time. They own the No. 1 spot in yearly and all-time success. On this list the Bulls and 76ers both moved up, but the Heat and Pistons fell in the rankings. It’s interesting to note that the Celtics and Lakers both have twice as many points as the third place team San Antonio.

It is particularly impressive that San Antonio is so high on the all-time total points list considering almost all of their history has come in the last 20 years. That is how dominant this franchise has truly been in recent years. The NBA is full of interesting history and I hope this brought some clarity to where all 30 franchises rank compared to each other.

Hope you enjoyed this comprehensive ranking of all 30 NBA franchises even half as much as I enjoyed putting it together, basketball fan!
