Carmelo Anthony understands the pain of the New York Knicks fans, claiming the team is “dying.”

The New York Knicks have been nothing short of a disaster this season.

After 31 games, the Knicks find themselves 5-26, the second worst record in a dreadful Eastern Conference.

Understandably, fans of the Knicks are fed up with the team. But, following New York’s Christmas day loss to the Washington Wizards, Carmelo Anthony wanted to make one thing clear: he feels just as terribly about the Knicks’ current performance as the fans do.

From ESPN:

"“I feel what the fans are feeling,” Anthony said after the Knicks fell to 5-26 following a Christmas Day loss to the Wizards.“The fans are dying, we’re dying. We’re out there, we’re not producing. We didn’t expect, I didn’t expect to be sitting at 5-26,” he said. “So as much as I feel for the fans, I feel for us going through it, too. I don’t expect nobody to feel sorry for us, I don’t expect nobody to feel sorry for me.”"

One doesn’t often hear a basketball player say its team is “dying” but that is the current state of the Knicks right now. The fact that this team, with a star like Anthony, isn’t even contending for a playoff spot in the East is truly embarrassing.

However, hopefully for Knicks fans, Anthony can use this hurt he is feeling and turn it into motivation to pull out some more wins in 2015.
