Jason Pierre-Paul will be a free agent at the end of the season and the New York Giants defensive end thinks he’s worth a lot of money and doesn’t seem too keen on giving the only team he’s played for a hometown discount.

The New York Giants had a trying season and will miss the playoffs yet again but they have some building blocks for the future including rookie phenom Odell Beckham Jr and potentially in former All-Pro end Jason Pierre-Paul who will be a free agent at the end of the year.

Pierre-Paul returned to his All-Pro form he displayed in 2011 when he had 16.5 sacks and has 10.5 sacks entering Sunday’s season finale after only having 8.5 sacks the last two seasons combined.

“I think I am worth a lot of money,” Pierre-Paul said, via ESPN when asked what he thinks he’s worth. “What do you think?”

The 25-year-old has played all 15 games this year after fighting through injury since his breakout season in 2011 and was limited to 11 games and six starts last year, but as is often the case, had a great year in his contract year. As a result, Pierre-Paul believes he’s going to cash in and when asked about a hometown discount, he said it will come down to a business decision.

In other words, that’s not gonna happen as he prepared to make the biggest business decision of his young career as he enters his prime. Pierre-Paul admits he’s love to retire as a Giant but that’s not in his hands.

“I’d love to be a Giant for the rest of my career,” Pierre-Paul said. “But at the end of the day, it doesn’t always fold like that. Look at [Justin] Tuck, look at Osi [Umenyiora], look at Brandon Jacobs. It doesn’t matter.”

Pierre-Paul turns 26 in February and considering he’s one of the best 4-3 ends at stopping the run, he should receive a contract larger than the five-year, $43.75 million the Tampa Bay Buccaneers gave to former Cincinnati Bengals end Michael Johnson last offseason.

Whether that comes from the Giants or not remains to be seen in what should be another entertaining free agency period in March.
