Mike Davis didn’t have the type of junior season he had hoped for after rushing for 1,183 yards and scoring 11 touchdowns as a sophomore in 2013, but the 5-9, 223-pound running back will head to the NFL after playing in his final collegiate game in Saturday’s Independence Bowl and enter the 2015 draft.

"“Yes, it’s officially my last game,” Davis said on Thursday, via CBS Sports. “I always want to go out with a bang. I just tell my teammates that I love them. I’ve enjoyed this long ride. I knew when I was coming down here and I had already made my decision, I even started bringing the camera in and started recording my last moments with my teammates.”"

Davis has 927 yards and nine touchdowns this season and his yards per carry has dropped from 5.8 last year to five this year as he has had to deal with questions surrounding his conditioning and focus after losses started to pile up for the 6-6 Gamecocks. He was undoubtedly better as a sophomore but he can go out with a bang in Saturday’s bowl game against Miami and show NFL teams he has the skill-set to worthy of being picked by the end of the third round.

He likely projects to be taken in the top 75-100 picks because he has a compact and physical running style that and he has experience as a receiver out of the backfield with 64 receptions for 701 yards receiving over the last two seasons.
