Jon Hilliman is running wild in the place Derek Jeter built as Boston College and Penn State square off in Yankee Stadium for the Pinstripe Bowl and the freshman running back is on pace for a career day.
Hilliman is already over the 100-yard mark in the opening minutes of the second quarter with 102 yards on only eight carries and this 49-yard touchdown to tie the game up at 7-7, 43 seconds after Penn State took the lead on a 72-yard touchdown pass from Christian Hackenberg to Chris Godwin.
Hilliman was one of the more underrated running back recruits in the nation last year and has had a stellar freshman season with 712 yards and 12 touchdowns on 185 carries entering the Pinstripe Bowl. He had two, 100-yard games this year, including a career-high 128 yards against Colorado State on Sept. 27, and it looks like Hilliman will eclipse that total well before halftime and a 200-plus yard outing could be in the works.
The 6-0, 215-pound freshman out of Jersey City, NJ (St. Peters Prep) was the No. 383 overall recruit regardless of position, No. 23 running back and the No. 13 recruit in the state of New Jersey, according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.
