By Hayden Kane
Dirk Nowitzki moved into eight place on the NBA‘s all-time scoring list on Saturday night during a Dallas Mavericks‘ win over the Los Angeles Lakers. He then celebrated by poking at Kobe Bryant.
Dirk Nowitzki told Kobe Bryant that he is going to catch him on the NBA’s all-time scoring list.

Dirk was probably just kidding, probably just engaging in good-humored, harmless banter.
Kobe is probably going to destroy him anyway.
With Kobe Bryant in street clothes watching this one, Dirk Nowitzki moved into eighth place on the all-time scoring list. With the man who is third on that list also in the building, Nowitzki could not help but trade barbs. “I told him that I was going to catch him,” Nowitzki said, as passed along by ESPN.com.”But that’s going to be tough.”
It certainly is going to be tough. Dirk is now eighth with 27,322 points. That still puts him another 5,000 points behind Kobe, who has 32,365 and is still going.
What would seem to hurt Dirk Nowitzki’s chances even more is the fact that he has not yet shown the willingness to do what it takes like Kobe Bryant has. He has not yet shown a willingess to drag a bad team with him while he pursues more points, posting the worst plus/minus in basketball and belittling teammates at every turn.
Maybe someday, though.
