Johnell Barnes takes this pass and dives for the end zone to score making the game 30-24 in favor of the Sun Devils from Arizona State. In a game that ASU led most of the way the Blue Devils rally back and make a game of it before the ASU closes out the Duke Blue Devils.
This was one exciting game all the way through as the Blue Devils take the lead 31-30 with 5:03 remaining. However the ASU Sun Devils were not to be denied and quickly re-assumed their lead at the 4:45 mark to end the game at 36-31 to win the Sun Bowl in El Paso, Texas.
Taylor Kelly led the Sun Devils in passing with 240 yards and 2 TDs while completing 24/34 attempts. D.J. Foster led the way with 79 yards on 11 carries while Jaelen Strong had 103 yards on 7 catches. For Duke Anthony Boone was 15/31 for 193 yards and 2 TDs. Shaquille Powell was a force on the air and the ground with 29 totes for 117 yards 3 catches for 52 yards while taking one of those 32 yards for the score.
