Free agency is always an interesting part of the offseason. NFL teams think they can find the answer to their problems and that one missing piece that will make them contenders. It also means that teams can overpay a player because they’re desperate to find that savior.
New York Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul is headed towards free agency in 2015 and think it will be his time to cash in.
“I think I am worth a lot of money,” Pierre-Paul told ESPN.
Pierre-Paul added: “I don’t know what my future holds. Who knows if I am going to be in a Giant uniform, who knows where I am going to be in the offseason. Like I said, now, the numbers are there, I had a great season, and everybody sees it. There really is nothing else to say, just negotiations and it is coming.”
The numbers he is talking about is 10.5 sacks through 15 games, the second highest total of his career. He also has three forced fumbles,a career high, and one fumble recovery. His 49 tackles this season is also the second highest total of his career.
With the emphasis on pass-rushing, and Pierre-Paul being a rather young 25 years-old at the moment, he could very well be about to cash in.
