Kentucky vs Louisville Final Score: Wildcats Pass Toughest Test Against Cardinals, 58-50
By Jack Crosby
The Kentucky Wildcats passed their stiffest test of the season on Saturday by dropping the rival Louisville Cardinals.
The top-ranked and undefeated Kentucky Wildcats went on the road Saturday afternoon to take on the No. 4 Louisville Cardinals in what was undoubtedly their toughest test of the season so far, and may have been the toughest test that they will see for the rest of the regular season.
Well, you can consider that test passed, as the No. 1 Wildcats came away from their annual rivalry game against the Cardinals with a 58-50 victory.
Unlike last weekend against UCLA, this one was not easy for the Wildcats. Kentucky went into the half with just a 22-18 win. But they were able to hold off Louisville for the remaining 20 minutes to walk out with their 13th victory on the season.
The main issue that was facing the Cardinals on Saturday was their inability to shoot the ball. They were having very little issue getting the rebounds against this athletic Kentucky team, however they just couldn’t get the ball into the hoop. Rick Pitino’s club finished the game shooting just 25 percent from the field, which will rarely get the job done against any team.
As for these amazing Wildcats, who are still on track to remain unbeaten on the season, they had two players finish in double figures. Tyler Ulis was huge off the bench, contributing 14 points with two assists. Willie Cauley-Stein ended the game with 10 points and nine rebounds.
With the win, Kentucky moves to 13-0 on the season and will face Ole Miss is their SEC opener on Jan. 6. Louisville dropped their first game of the season on Saturday and will take on Long Beach State Tuesday night to try and get some momentum back on their side before ACC play hits.
