If you follow golf in the slightest bit you’ve heard of Rory McIlroy, who has been impressive during his climb as the No. 1 golfer in the world. While he has been winning on the links, he might have been losing in the battle of public perception for his interesting break up with his former girlfriend and tennis star Caroline Wozniacki.

He allegedly dumped her via text message in what was a pretty abrupt end to their relationship which was headed towards a wedding.

So McIlroy is enjoying the offseason of the golf work and attended a rugby match in Ireland on Friday. While conducting an interview at halftime with BBC, the stadium operators played Neil Diamond’s “Sweet Caroline” over the sound system and it can be heard in the background, while it sounds like some fans are singing along as well.

The song of course shares the same name with his former fiancee.

McIlroy picked up on what was going on during the interview and acknowledged it briefly by laughing and shaking his head. At least he was a good sport about it and didn’t take it to personally.
