Without any question, the NFC South was considered one of the worst divisions in the NFL, however because of the rules, someone had to walk away with the title and the ticket to the playoffs. That team is none other than the Carolina Panthers, who will be making a return trip to the postseason.
Carolina went at it on the road Sunday afternoon with the Atlanta Falcons in a game that became the division championship contest, and quite frankly, it wasn’t even close. The Panthers defense was stout from start to finish, as you can tell by the 34-3 final score, and the offense did all they needed to do to get the win.
The Panthers finish up the regular season with a record of 7-8-1 on the season, which again goes to show that the NFC South was indeed not only the worst division in the NFL this season, but maybe one of the worst in history. However, the rules state that a division winner has to go to the playoffs, and that’s exactly what Cam Newton and the Panthers will be doing.
Not only will they be headed to the postseason for the second season in a row, but they will even get to host a home game.
Last season the Panthers were ousted in the playoffs by the San Francisco 49ers.
