If Sunday was Rex Ryan’s final game as coach of the New York Jets, they sent him out a winner with a big finish against the Miami Dolphins.
The New York Jets sealed a 37-24 win over the Miami Dolphins Sunday with a late 23-yard touchdown pass from Geno Smith to tight end Jeff Cumberland with 3:22 remaining.
Smith had a huge day for the Jets, completing 20-of-25 passes for 358 yards and three touchdowns—finishing with a perfect 158.3 passer rating—as the Jets scored the final 23 points of the game to get the win.
New York finished the season 4-12, its worst finish since finishing 4-12 in 2007.

Ryan completed his sixth season with the Jets, who are 45-51 during the regular season on his watch, with two playoff berths that led to back-to-back AFC Championship appearances in 2009-10. Since then, however, the Jets have had two losing seasons and reached .500 twice.
New York is 4-2 in the playoffs under Ryan.
The Jets rolled up 494 yards of total offense, sending the Dolphins to an 8-8 finish and still leaving them without a winning record since 2008.
Miami’s loss negated a huge day for Lamar Miller, who rushed for 178 yards—including a 97-yard touchdown early in the second half that gave the Dolphins a 24-14 lead.
