There are multiple reports that Jim Harbaugh will be hired to be the next head coach at the University of Michigan. But is it possible he could land with the Chicago Bears on the NFL level?
At some point, thanks mostly to the efforts of scoop guys and then the efforts of the rest of us to analyze scoops, the options for Jim Harbaugh for next season got boiled down to two options: coach his alma mater at Michigan or coach the Raiders in the NFL.

It seems like we ought to at least raise this question, however: what about the other potentially vacant NFL jobs? What about the professional gigs that aren’t the Raiders and therefore would give Harbaugh a chance to win sooner rather than later?
While there are multiple reports that Harbaugh will leave the San Francisco 49ers and end up back in college at Michigan, others are quick to point out that nothing is done yet.
Many ready to ticket Jim Harbaugh to Michigan. It very well might turn out right. But one source last night: "No agreement. No deal done."

On Jim Harbaugh: Michigan officials believe he’ll be their coach. But no firm deal is in place yet. Raiders haven’t been told they are out

And if a deal isn’t done yet, then theoretically Harbaugh could land at an NFL job other than the Raiders. Ian Rapoport offers one such suggestion:
While #Raiders loom as NFL option, keep an eye on #Bears if they make big changes (& if Harbaugh keeps himself open). Will CHI pay enough?

It makes sense that this could at least be a possibility, as the Bears are expected to fire head coach Marc Trestman and others. They have enough talent, especially on the offensive side of the ball, that Harbaugh could potentially turn that program around in the hurry and get himself back in the playoffs as a head coach.
It sounds like Harbaugh to Michigan is happening, but if it doesn’t, Harbaugh to the Bears is an intriguing dark horse option to consider.
