Mark Sanchez Throws A Touchdown Pass … Really! (Video)
By Phil Watson
The Philadelphia Eagles are just 3-4 since backup quarterback Mark Sanchez replaced injured Nick Foles, but he got his day off to a good start Sunday.
The Philadelphia Eagles were 9-3 and cruising along toward the NFC East title after a Thanksgiving Day dismantling of the Dallas Cowboys.
But they haven’t won since.
But early in their regular-season finale against the New York Giants—a game that carries no playoff implications—quarterback Mark Sanchez rolled out and hit rookie receiver Jordan Matthews for a 44-yard catch and run to tie the game at 7-7 within the first four minutes of the contest.
The Eagles were 3-1 with Sanchez as the starter after Nick Foles went down with a broken collarbone in their Nov. 2 win at Houston.

But since the Thanksgiving Day win, Philadelphia hasn’t won a game, losing two straight at home to Seattle and Dallas before being eliminated from contention with a stunning loss at Washington last weekend.
Sanchez came in with a career-high 64.1 completion percentage and 2,126 passing yards to go with 12 touchdowns and 10 interceptions.
Matthews, a second-round pick out of Vanderbilt in May’s draft, caught his eighth touchdown pass of the season on the play. He came into Sunday with 59 receptions for 767 yards.
