When the Oakland Raiders wrap up their 2014 season this afternoon, they will not be part of the bum rush to get a new head coach before the calendar year ends. While the Raiders need to make a serious pivot in the direction their franchise is headed, making a quick move at head coach is not something that looks like it will happen.

According to NFL scribe Jason Cole, the Raiders will not be quick to make a move on the coaching market and will not be making any offers right away after their season ends.

The possibility of retaining Tony Sporano is still there for Oakland, as he’s led the team to more wins than anyone thought they’d get. Then again, he’s not the most ideal candidate and could be replaced at the end of the season. He’s the interim head coach, so it’s almost expected that he’s going to be removed from the position unless it is offered full-time — which it very well may be.

Oakland needs to jazz things up, and even if they don’t land Jim Harbaugh they need a head coach who can give them the swagger they desperately need and used to have no less than 15 years ago.
