The New York Jets had another disaster of a season and it looks like there will be some changes coming at the top of the organization. Not only is head coach Rex Ryan likely leaving, and reports say he already cleaned out his office, general manager John Idzik could be on his way out as well.
It looks like those fans who invested all that money in airplane banners, billboards, towels, and Christmas cards are getting their wish, and their money’s worth as well. That is almost a dangerous move, surely someone out there will think those things influenced the decision and only encourage that behavior in the future.
Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports has more:
"The Jets are parting with [Rex] Ryan, and, league sources said, general manager John Idzik as well, with owner Woody Johnson already bringing in consultants to help with that process. Former NFL general manager Charley Casserly is among them—he is very high on [Todd]Bowles—and [Jim Mora Jr.] is also viewed as a very strong candidate within that organization, sources said."
La Canfora even had a list of candidates who could be front-runners for the job.
"On the GM side, Houston scouting director Mike Maccagnan has long ties to Casserly, while the team is also expected to interview Minnesota assistant general manager George Paton, Browns assistant general manager Morocco Brown, Houston director of pro personnel Brian Gaine among others."
Interestingly enough, Ian Rapoport had a list of candidates he thinks are targets for the Jets. The only person he agrees on is George Paton of the Vikings. Rapoport also suggests Ryan Pace of the New Orleans Saints, Trent Krichner of the Seattle Seahawks and Will McClay of the Dallas Cowboys.
It is pretty funny that they’re considering someone from the Cowboys, an organization that has general manager issues of their own in Jerry Jones.
