The St. Louis Rams aren’t an offensive-minded team, which his why it’s no surprise their best selling jersey came from a defensive player.

For a team that didn’t have a quarterback all season long, the St. Louis Rams didn’t do that bad for themselves when all was said and done. The Rams didn’t make it to the postseason and weren’t in the conversation at all during the season but they did manage to play spoiler to the Denver Broncos and San Francisco 49ers, which is more than a lot of other teams can say.

Austin Davis was the Rams quarterback all season long, along with Shaun Hill, but it wasn’t the offense that fans were supporting throughout the year. The Rams defense was one of the best units in the NFL, which is why fans rallied around them at numerous times this season. That’s why it’s of no surprise to fans in St. Louis that James Laurinaitis finished the season as the team leader in jersey sales.

According to DICK’s Jersey Report, Laurinaitis had the No. 113th best selling jersey in the NFL this season and one of four Rams players to rank inside of the Top 150 players in NFL jersey sales.

Laurinaitis leading the Rams in jersey sales is proof of how amazing their defense was this season and how attached fans were to the unit. Chris Long went down in the opening game of the season and things looked like they might be lost from there, but Laurinaitis rallied the defense and became a leader that everyone saw him become in his final years at Ohio State and his first few years in the NFL.

He’s a staple of what has become one of the NFL’s most promising defenses and he’s one of the best linebackers in the game today, albeit drastically underrated.

The Rams are rolling into 2015 with so much more hope and promise than they did in 2014, as they’ll more than likely have a quarterback to lead the way and their defense is only getting better and better.
