Arizona Cardinals receiver Larry Fitzgerald leads the team in NFL jersey sales for the 2014 season
Speculation may be rampant about whether Arizona Cardinals receiver Larry Fitzgerald will or won’t be retained for the 2015 season but in 2014 he still reigns as the most popular player on the team, leading the Cardinals in NFL team jersey sales, according to the Jersey Report.

Fitzgerald finished the 2014 season with 63 receptions for 784 yards and two touchdowns. There has been a lot of speculation about his future in Arizona because of his $23.6 million hit to the 2015 salary cap. The Cardinals have already said they wouldn’t release him and have worked him into their numbers for the 2015 season. Of course he has to accept whatever the Cards are thinking about paying him.
For now though, he gets to enjoy once again leading the Cardinals in jersey sales. After 11 seasons in Arizona since being drafted prior to the 2004 season he continues to be the most popular player for the team. He is currently the 35th most popular jersey in the NFL.
With injuries to other stars in 2014 on the Cardinals roster, it really is no surprise that Fitzgerald, who avoided the Injured Reserve this season, has the most sales. His sales accounted for up to four percent of NFL sales in November and currently represents two percent of NFL jersey sales.
Guys like Patrick Peterson, Darnell Dockett and Tyrann Mathieu have had success on the defensive side in having their jerseys sold but Peterson had an off year. Dockett missed the entire season due to a preseason injury and Mathieu spent time coming back from a torn acl and didn’t come close to being 100 percent until the end of the season.
Overall the Cardinals are 23rd in the NFL in all jerseys sold. Out of 32 teams, that really isn’t much of a surprise. The Cardinals have always been amongst the least popular teams in the NFL, good team or not.
