Luke Kuechly Leads Carolina Panthers In Jersey Sales For 2014 Season
By Evan Massey
Carolina Panthers star linebacker Luke Kuechly led the team in jersey sales for the entire 2014 season, and finished fifth across the entire league.
The Carolina Panthers were able to defeat the Atlanta Falcons in Week 17 to get into the playoffs by winning the NFC South after an up-and-down roller coaster season. Luke Kuechly played another great season, and ended up leading the way for the Panthers in jersey sales throughout the entire 2014 season. Perhaps the most impressive thing is that he also ended up being the fifth highest selling jersey across the entire league.

There is no question that he is one of the brightest young stars on the defensive side of the football, but not many defensive players end up on this type of list. At first thought, Cam Newton was the name that came to mind when thinking of which player would lead the Panthers in jersey sales.
DICK’s Sporting Goods has an NFL Jersey Report that takes every single jersey sale from their stores into consideration, and that is how this number came about.
Kuechly finished this season with 153 tackles, 3.0 sacks, one forced fumble, and an interception. Those numbers show just how valuable he is to the Panthers, and he will need to come through with some big performances in the playoffs to get them where they want to go.
Carolina wasn’t expected to make the playoffs with a losing record, but thankfully the New Orleans Saints and Falcons had just as many issues. The Panthers are beginning to play their best football at the right time, and Kuechly has been one of the main reasons for their play of late. Expect to see them be a force to be reckoned with in the playoffs, and to see the defense step up with Kuechly leading the way.
