Chicago Bears star running back Matt Forte led the team in jersey sales for the entire 2014 season, and finished 22nd in the entire league.

Matt Forte and the Chicago Bears struggled through an incredibly disappointing 2014 season, and finished the season at 5-11. Despite the struggles, Forte had a very nice season and tried to carry the struggling offense. Chicago moved on from Marc Trestman immediately following the season, and will be starting a new era of football next season.

More from Chicago Bears

Chicago didn’t have much to be happy about this season, but Forte did end up leading the way as far as Bears’ jersey sales are concerned. He finished 22nd in the entire NFL, according to DICK’s Sporting Good’s Jersey Report. The Jersey Report tracks sales of each players jersey in every one of their stores and online, and that is where the numbers came from.

Forte finished the season with 266 carries for 1,038 yards and six touchdowns, while also catching 102 passes for 808 yards and four touchdowns.

Those numbers are among the best in the NFL as far as running backs are concerned, especially because of his two-way game. He finished behind just Marshawn Lynch and LeSean McCoy at the running back position, which is an extremely impressive number.

The Bears are going to be looking to make a lot of changes this coming offseason, but none of them are going to involve Forte. He is going to be part of what they build around moving forward, and he will have a large role once again next season. At 29 years of age, he still has a few good seasons left in the tank.

Expect to see Forte have another big season next year, especially with a new head coach coming in to replace Trestman. Chicago’s disappointing season is finally over, and they can focus on righting the ship moving forward.
