The New York Jets decided to move on from their current era of football by firing their general manager and coaching staff, and it will be different not seeing Rex Ryan on the sidelines.
While that is a story in and of itself, the way that the coaches found out that they were being fired makes this story even more intriguing. According to a report from Manish Mehta, the Jets’ coaching staff found out of their firing via email. That is simply unprofessional on the part of the Jets’ organization.
Notifying a coaching staff that they’re being fired via email rather than in person or at the very least over the phone is insulting. The Jets were able to come away with a victory over the Miami Dolphins in the last game of the season to end the year at 4-12. Obviously they weren’t a great coaching staff, but no one deserves to be fired like that via email.
Here's an oddity: The Jets coaching staff learned they were essentially fired... Via email. #nyj

A new era of football is going to begin in New York soon, and the search for a new head coach begins immediately. There are plenty of options out there for them to look at, but it isn’t going to be easy to get a candidate to agree with the current situation with the Jets’ organization.
All of that being said, they will get a quality new head coach that wants to turn the Jets’ franchise around. Being able to do that and lead them back to contention would be a great legacy builder. There are plenty of young coaches out there that are head coaching candidates this offseason, and that will likely be the type of group that the Jets target.
Names like Adam Gase, Josh McDaniels, and Kyle Shanahan will likely be some of the rumored candidates over the next few weeks.
