Winner: Jim Harbaugh

Say what you will about Harbaugh’s tenure in San Francisco, but he certainly walked away looking like the better person in what could have been a nasty divorce. Now that the 49ers have officially announced Harbaugh has been set free, allegedly to head off to Michigan and coach his alma mater, something we’ve all assumed was happening for a long time.

So Harbaugh gets to head to his old school and rescue the program, doing what he wants rather than allowing the Niners to dictate his future.

Further, he stays employed and relevant for a few years while he waits for the perfect spot for him in the NFL to open up. Because it’s hard to imagine him not ending up back at the pro level at some points. It may not be for three years or so, but he’s going to want to prove he can win the Super Bowl down the road like his brother has.

Until then though, the Wolverines should be an interesting team to watch.
