Dallas Cowboys defensive tackle Henry Melton will miss the entirety of the NFL Playoffs.
Tony Romo and Jerry Jones can almost taste it. The reality that their Dallas Cowboys have finally made it back to prominence and have a chance to once again surprise America is right there for the taking.
If the quarterback and owner want it to happen though, they’ll have to take that first step against the Detroit Lions this weekend, and do so without defensive tackle Henry Melton. The Cowboys have announced that Melton has been placed on injured reserve with a knee injury, ending his season.

Worst of all for Dallas is the fact that Lions stud defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh won his appeal against the league and will indeed suit up for the all-important matchup.
Despite all the flash the league now presents to its fans, the game of football still comes down to the battle upfront. The Cowboys themselves are the very definition of this as a rebuilt offensive line including three first-rounders has changed the fortunes of an entire organization.
Melton is a huge loss for a already suspect defense which finished 19th in total defense for the season, yielding 355.1 yards per game. And it could’ve been worse without that dominating run game eating up clock. Meanwhile, Detroit’s top-ranked run defense will be just that entering the game Sunday, with Suh fully-loaded and ready to go.
Dallas has nothing to answer with now, and it’s going to come down to how well Tony Romo and the offense can play while the defense of the Cowboys tries to make sure things don’t get out of hand with a hot-and-cold Lions offense.
