Seats up front are reserved for Jim Harbaugh’s family in advance of his press conference, in which the team is expected to introduce him as their new head coach.
In case you’re hoping to get front row seats to the first day of a new era in Michigan Wolverines football, think again. The family of Jim Harbaugh will be the people closest by when he and the university are expected to announce Harbaugh as the new Wolverines coach.

Harbaugh’s family had no problem denying that they were in any way influencing Jim’s decision on whether or not to accept his alma mater’s offer to coach the Wolverines, but they also had no problem being the first to arrive at the celebration. And hey, even if they’re not the first ones to the presser, at least we know their seats are spoken for.
It’s hard to blame the Harbaugh family for their excitement though. Jim is moving much closer to home after years of coaching in California. Harbaugh coached the University of Stanford football team before accepting an offer from the San Francisco 49ers as his first NFL head coaching job.
It appears Harbaugh is ready to step back from the limelight of the NFL though in search of a different venture: bringing Michigan football back to relevance in the Big Ten after years of getting run roughshod since Lloyd Carr’s retirement.
A new era in Michigan football will begin today and the first people to see it, literally, will be Jim Harbaugh’s family.
