On Friday, the team officially announced Bell has been ruled out for the Wild Card weekend game due to the hyperextended knee he suffered in the team’s Week 17 win over the Cincinnati Bengals.
The good news for Pittsburgh, however, is Bell did not suffer any structural damage from the low hit by Bengals safety Reggie Nelson and he could very well be able to suit up if the team gets by Baltimore on Saturday.
Without Bell, the Steelers will turn to veteran Ben Tate, who signed with the team earlier this week, and rookie running backs Josh Harris and Dri Archer.
Bell has been a major part of the team’s offense, but the Steelers should be fine without him. If their first meeting with Baltimore was any indication — Bell had just 10 carries for 20 yards and the Steelers still won, 43-23, thanks to six touchdown passes from Ben Roethlisberger — the Steelers should be just fine.
