Cam Newton, Panthers celebrate playoff win with fans
By Mike Dyce
Quarterback Cam Newton and his Carolina Panthers teammates celebrated their playoff win with fans after the game.
The Carolina Panthers got a big win over the Arizona Cardinals in the Wild Card round to advance to the second. The Panthers had a losing record and got into the playoffs by winning a pitiful NFC South division, then validated their place with a win over a less than healthy team.
Still, it is the first win for the Panthers since 2005 and the first playoff win for young quarterback Cam Newton.
To celebrate the big win, Newton joined the fans. It is nice to see a professional athlete join in celebrating with the fans. College fans rush the field to join the celebration, or college athletes run towards student sections to get closer to the fans.
That barrier is rarely broken in professional sports, making it all the more special when a player celebrates like this.
Of course this is nothing new to Newton, who gives touchdown footballs to fans in the stands. Still, Newton enjoyed it for as long as he could.
While Cam Newton got the lion’s share of the credit for celebrating with the fans after the game from the Panthers’ Twitter account, he wasn’t the only player doing laps. Newton’s teammates also did at least one lap around the stadium to thank the fans.
