Fantasy Basketball: Time to stash Kevin Martin?
By Dave Fuqua
Is it time to stash Kevin Martin on your fantasy basketball team? Well, if you are in a head to head standard league, you just might find him available on your waiver wire. That said, I am not 100% convinced that he is going to make a huge impact for your team. Martin is still a quality player, but with the emergence of Shabazz Muhammad and having rookie #1 overall pick Andrew Wiggins who was acquired in the Kevin Love trade, the Timberwolves are loaded at SG.

The Timberwolves, owners of the worst record in the Western conference, may find their future best served by giving Muhammad and Wiggins more minutes and allowing Martin to play the backup role. They could also opt to consider sending Martin to a contender in a deal for a pick or two. Whatever they decide to do, I simply don’t see a great future for a player like Martin. He did have a decent year last year, but I would not break the bank or cut anyone who is producing for him.
Now if you’re in a cats league or a deep league, you may find Martin to be a useful asset as he has the ability to be a guy who knocks down 2 three-point baskets a game. Beyond that you will not find much other use for him. So all in all, you may find some use for Martin, but the Timberwolves could even find themselves in a position where they are giving youngster Troy Daniels some minutes to see what they may or may not have in him. If I were an owner of Martin, I would probably let the hype of his return build and try to sell him before he comes back so as not to dent his value. If I found K-Mart on the wire in my league, I would be hesitant to cut almost anyone who is producing.
