Memphis Grizzlies shooting guard Tony Allen had major difficulty getting the ball in the basket on one possession versus the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday.
Memphis Grizzlies shooting guard Tony Allen is perhaps the best perimeter defender in the league. However, he’s a fairly weak offensive player and that can be a problem for the Grizzlies at times.

There was no greater proof of Allen’s offensive shortcomings than what the guard did on Friday night against the Los Angeles Lakers.
In the second quarter, Allen remarkably missed a wide-open layup and then proceeded to miss three more shots in the possession.

Yeah, that was really bad, even for a subpar offensive player like Allen.
We’re going to go out on a limb and say that Allen’s teammates made fun of him for his performance on that possession after the Grizzlies’ eventual win.
Still, Allen is a key reason why the Grizzlies have one of the best records in the NBA at 24-8 because of his defensive prowess.
Allen is averaging 7.8 points, four rebounds and 1.7 assists per game this season. Allen, a 10-year veteran, has been with the Grizzlies since the 2010-11 season.
