The Baltimore Ravens travel in the first round of the AFC playoffs to take on a familiar foe, the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The race in the AFC North division came down to the final week of the 2014 regular season, with the Pittsburgh Steelers defeating the Cincinnati Bengals to win the division. The AFC North runner ups, the Bengals, who finished with a record of 10-5-1, and the Baltimore Ravens, who finished with a record of 10-6, both earned Wild Card berths.

“It says a lot about the division,” Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco said, via the team’s website. “For three teams to be able to go and be in the playoffs, it obviously means they’ve done a pretty good job outside of the division, and it’s impressive.”

That guaranteed the Steelers an AFC North match up in the Wild Card round of the playoffs the first weekend of January. It won’t be a Week 17 rematch of their clash against the Bengals, instead the Steelers will host the Ravens.

The Ravens-Steelers match up is significantly more intriguing than a match up with the Bengals given their post season success. The two franchises have played in a combined five Super Bowls, winning four over the past 14 seasons.

“It is just going to be another one of those great moments in the Ravens-Steelers rivalry that we are looking forward to,” Ravens coach John Harbaugh said. “It’s another playoff game there.  We’d like to win one of those one of these days in their place, and we’re going to do our darnedest to try to pull that off Saturday night.”

Waiting in the divisional round of the playoffs for the winner of this game is either the Denver Broncos or the New England Patriots, making the road to the Super Bowl particularly difficult. The winner of this game will carry a lot of momentum going forward.
