Carolina Panthers fan blinds kicker with flashlight
A Carolina Panthers fan’s phone flashlight caused trouble for him and the Panthers
There are probably many things you shouldn’t do when you’re at a football game. Getting into fights, abusing alcohol, and using obscene gestures, are some that come to mind. Using the flashlight on your phone so you’re family can see you on television while your kicker is trying to make a field goal? That’s a new one and an act that probably will irk security, the kicker, and the crowd around you.

Saturday afternoon during the Panthers wildcard round game against the Arizona Cardinals, an overzealous Carolina Panthers fan sitting in the end zone thought he would signal his family members watching from home by using the flashlight on his phone. The problem is that his own team’s kicker Graham Gano was trying to attempt a field goal.
The fan’s light could be seen on television and was undoubtedly a distraction to those staring into the end zone during the field goal attempt.
The fan was eventually pulled out of his seat by security to explain his side of the story. After being told to knock it off, the fan was able to return to his seat and watch his team go on to win the game and advance to the divisional round.
Gano, making the first attempt from 49 yards out, missed the second attempt from 43 and the light may have caused a distraction. Now Gano, has already had plenty of trouble this year dealing with distractions. Earlier in the season against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Gano had trouble practicing field goals at halftime as the Bethune-Cookman marching band got in his way.
Every year, there is always something new in regards to fan behavior, and 2015 has started no different. If you’re at a game and your kicker is trying to get points on the board for your favorite team, it is best not to try and blind him while he’s trying to put your team on top.
