The play of the weekend in the NFL came on a non-call that favored the Dallas Cowboys and eventually led to their win over the Detroit Lions.

Wild Card action wrapped up this weekend, but the play everyone will be talking about occurred on a pass interference penalty that was called as pass interference but later reversed and declared a foul-free play.

It’s a play that was controversial the second it happened and people have not ben able to stop talking about it. Cowboys fans unsurprisingly believe the right call was made while everyone else in America believes that the officials jobbed the Lions in the worst of ways.

Hours after the game ended, head official Pete Morelli, who picked up the flag on the play, stood by his decision stating the face-guarding is not a penalty in the NFL.

According to the pool report from ESPN.com’s Todd Archer, who spoke with Pete Morelli after the game, there was no foul that occurred on the play.

There are many who disagree with this call, including former head of officiating Mike Pereria, who went off after the game and chastised the officiating crew for their handling of the situation. The Detroit Lions official Twitter account also protested the non-call, and already the link between Dean Blandino and the Jones family has lit up conspiracy threads all over the internet.

That doesn’t change the fact that the results are in the books and the officials are firmly standing by their call. That’s what is going to make this an even more volatile situation, as the officials are in a hardline stance against everyone who thinks they made the wrong call — which might possibly be everyone outside the Dallas viewing area.
