According to Fox 8 New Orleans, the Saints linebacker was booked on domestic violence charges after he attacked a woman who appears to be his girlfriend of the last two years. According to reports, the incident was so bad that the woman in question had to grab a knife to defend herself and has visible injuries on her when police arrived.
"Police said the victim told investigators she had been seeing Galette for two years, but not in a romantic capacity. She said she does chores for him. Galette also told police the woman is a dancer."
This is significant for more than on reason, but mainly because it’s the first domestic violence case to pop up after the Adrian Peterson verdict. Ray Rice’s situation was botched by the NFL and so too was the fallout from the Peterson case, but Junior Galette will be the first case tried under the new domestic violence rules.
Ray McDonald also falls under this category but he’s currently unemployed after the San Francisco 49ers cut him after a second domestic violence allegation surfaced. This isn’t an allegation against Galette though, as he was arrested at the scene of an attack which left visible marks on his partner.
Visible evidence has done in Ray Rice and Adrian Peterson in a quick manner, and if the police reports are correct, this is a situation that couldn’t get any worse for the Saints, Galette or the NFL who need to make sure they get one right for a change.
